A Fabulous Drink at Truluck's
I don’t trust restaurants that don’t have bars inside of them. Let me rephrase that, I appreciate restaurants that have a well-thought out cocktail bar inside of them. Restaurant bars are my favorite! They provide a refreshingly comfortable perch while waiting on a friend or first date for that matter. Visiting a restaurant bar is also a great way to experience a new or upscale restaurant without having to “fully commit” a large portion of your paycheck. There is almost always a seat at the bar, even in some of the hottest restaurants in town, where getting a reservation is nearly impossible at a moment’s notice.
Truluck’s is no exception to this rule. They have a fabulous cocktail lounge with drink specials nightly. Considered high-end casual, Truluck’s cocktail hour will not break the bank. Cocktail selections mirror the menu in their classic style, you won’t find the latest in mixology trends, but what you will find are classics done well.
I ordered Ryan’s Cosmopolitan named after the bartender who so graciously tended to me on a recent Thursday evening. While the price at cocktail hour is $5.50, know that quality is not compromised. In fact, the drink is made with Grey Goose vodka and fresh juice mixers.
As you sip your cocktail, don’t forget to look behind the bar! Each bottle of wine is carefully selected and 25% off during cocktail hour. Pair your drink alongside delectable appetizers such as Mini Bacon Cheeseburgers or Baja Ceviche offered at half off and ranging from $2 to $7.
A new summertime menu is launching and includes a Sangria made with Truluck’s secret ingredients, which I happen to know include freshly muddled raspberries, blueberries and oranges. As I finished my last sip of that fabulous and classic Cosmopolitan, I bid farewell to Ryan with a promise to return with a few friends in tow.

A Fabulous Drink at Townhouse
I am back, I told you I would be. It's here, Townhouse and the review is too. There's no phone number and no website just like in New York, but it's here and it's good. Read more here. Have fun and yes, you can and should show up unannounced.

A Fabulous Drink at ...
That's a picture of fresh thyme and that was what was spanked upon the bar top before being placed in my friend K's drink tonight. Terms such as OMG, LOL and WTF as well as Red Headed Stepchild and Panty Dropper are used in the menu descriptions at this spanking new hot spot. Stay tuned to find out more here ...

A Fabulous Drink Out on the Town with the Parents
Last night we invited the folks out with us to an art opening at Russell Collection. Usually these events are fabulous with wine flowing and food items abundant. Last night was not the case, it was a sit down lecture with an art collector going on and on and on about his collection. Thank goodness I spotted the ever-fabulous Ron King and his A-team and we suffered and laughed together. From there it was over to 24 Diner for a much needed drink. There I sipped on my favorite Chardonnay, Hanzell served by the lovely Heather and Billy behind the bar. I spotted my girlfriends there finishing up dinner and their own bottle of Hanzell (you make me proud) and looking as fabulous as ever, ready to hit the town themselves. A much needed meal was in order and we settled for none other than the it place of the moment, G'Raj Mahal, who claims to be the best Indian food in Austin, it is, go now! Saturday night out on the town with the folks, it was fabulous!

A Fabulous Drink at an Outdoor Bar
Just the other day I overheard a woman on my JetBlue flight repeat the same thing I said just days before, "Austin is having an awesome spring, usually we have two seasons, winter and summer." I can think of no better way than to enjoy this glorious season than on an outdoor patio bar. Find a fabulous one here.

A Fabulous Drink and a Recovery
First, I'd like to apologize for not posting in eight days. I have been out of commission, a not so fabulous stomach bug has kept me from getting out there and getting you news on a fabulous drink in Austin. Sorry if that was tmi, but good has come out of all of this, my new found discovery of the fabulousness of coconut water. I first posted about it here where you can read all about its wonderful benefits. I used to get it in the form of fresh young coconuts found at Whole Foods, but thanks to my friend K for reminding me about sustainability you can find it in much more eco-friendly forms by brands such as Zico or Amy & Brian. Replenished, rehydrated and recharged, I'm ready to get out there and report here on more fabulous finds!
